14th Lokh Sabha Election in Poumai Naga Country

Democracy-of the people, for the people and by the people. India is part of the biggest democracy in the world. In a democratic country every citizens have the right to vote for their own choice. The 14th Indian Loksabha election is the first general election where the bureaucracy and armed forces will get the opportunity to exercise their franchise. But many Poumai Naga villagers are forced to debar from exercising their franchise due to some selfish leaders. All the villagers regardless of the literate or illiterate have the right to vote according to their wish. However, the village authorities alleged the threatening from their selfish and corrupted leaders with dire consequent if they do not vote for their candidate. The Cancer of corruption of the political leaders are spread like a wild fire to their campaigners, forcing and withholding the citizen’s right to exercise their franchise. Is that your personal political freedom to exercise in forcing other to vote for your candidate only?

The fundamental principle of Indian democracy is that every citizen is granted the right to choose their representative to represent for their people. And if the right to vote according to his/her choice is not given to all the citizens, what kind of leader do we have at present in our country. When the Candidate is corrupted, his leaders/campaigners are also become corrupted. The Poumai Naga old saying also says, “If Mother is black in color then her Children also will be black” If the candidate himself is free from corruption, none of his canvassers will be emboldened to use the means of corruption to elect him. The corruption of canvassers depicts the corruption of their candidate. Can we anticipate any good things from a corrupted political leader? How can you trust a corrupted political leader? You are complacent today with your MP candidate as you are gaining peanut from your corrupted candidate. However, forget it the laymen in the village, even you also will gain nothing after the election from a corrupted narrow-minded political leader who wants only for his personal gains. Some of the MP candidates in Manipur need to educate themselves and broadened their mind to serve the people of Manipur in particular and as a whole in North Eastern States. Even if the political leaders are not altruistic persons, they should educate themselves and teach their campaigners not to violate the fundamental principle of democracy-freedom of right to vote in his/her own choice. But some of the MP candidates and their campaigners in Poumai Naga dominated areas have no knowledge about the fundamental principle of democracy. A political leader may contest the election for personal gain without having any altruistic in his mind but he should not forget to carry out his duties to do for the people what he ought to do even after he is elected through means of corruption. It is very sad things that the campaigners in Poumai Naga country had defamed their Candidate through their selfish and corrupted mind, forcing the villagers to vote for their candidate.

I think we need to educate ourselves more in next general election so that all the villagers are given the equal right to vote for their own choice and not according to our present selfish and corrupted leaders. If a candidate is elected through the means of corruption using the muscle power and money, only a few corrupted leaders will continue to enjoy the corruption with their corrupted MP, we cannot also expect him to bring any development for our society. So the only means for us is to wait with our fingers-crossed for the next 15th LokSabha election to elect the right candidate who will represent for the people and work for the people.
